- Engineering contractor building gas-fuelled power units for a field camp
Overview
An engineering contractor supplying electricity to a gas-field camp and processing site chose natural-gas engines to run on locally available fuel and asked MARS to supply the engine sets for their generator packages.
Challenge
The engines had to run reliably on the site's gas quality, with electronic governing for stable frequency, and be shipped with control systems and spares to a remote location with a long overland leg.
Solution
| Item | Model | Qty |
|---|---|---|
| Natural-gas engine | Weichai WP6D132E301NG, 120 kW, 6-cylinder | 6 |
| Natural-gas engine | Weichai natural-gas engines, 40–90 kW range | 4 |
| Control | Engine control units, gas trains, ignition systems | 10 sets |
| Spares | Spark plugs, filters, gaskets, sensors for 4,000 hours | 10 sets |
Scope of supply
Fuel-gas data review, engine selection, factory test on gas, rail-and-truck export packing, delivery to Almaty, and technical documentation in English and Russian.
Outcome
The generator packages were assembled and commissioned by the contractor with remote support from MARS. A second phase for the processing site is under discussion.
Customer names are withheld; the case describes a typical supply scope built from products in the MARS catalogue.
